Pathways Programme
At Golf It! Glasgow, we believe in opening doors for everyone. Our Pathways Programme is designed to create equitable opportunities, tackle isolation, and empower young people to develop their individual agency and capacity through the power of golf and community engagement.
We offer three distinct streams tailored to different needs:
- Fairways to Volunteering: An inclusive initiative for people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds, providing opportunities to develop individual agency and capacity.
- Fairways to Opportunity: A specialised stream working with young people with complex needs, combining golfing activities with meaningful voluntary and work experience.
- Fairways to Learning: A targeted programme for young people aged 16+, designed to support them in becoming the best versions of themselves.
Fairways to Learning: Empowering the Next Generation
The Fairways to Learning programme is a holistic journey of personal development, employability, and introductory golf skills. We focus on building confidence, communication, and real-world skills.
Key phases of the programme include:
- Personal Development: Induction, goal setting, and one-to-one planning.
- Employability Skills: CV preparation, interview role-play, and “Meet the Team” sessions with Golf It staff.
- Practical Golf Skills: Introduction to the driving range and basic golf techniques.
- Accredited Training: Participants work toward certifications in:
- Barista Training
- Youth Work
- Skills Development
- Event Planning & Organising
Our Impact
The programme is already making a tangible difference. By combining employability support with the welcoming environment at Golf It, we have seen participants grow in confidence and communication skills.
As one parent shared: “This is the first time in a long time I’ve seen him smile. He actually wants to get out of bed. He feels like someone finally cares about him and his future.”
We are committed to removing barriers to participation, including providing dedicated transport to ensure that every young person can access these opportunities.
